Steel raw material

Function

The steel purchased for Husqvarna North America is used in metal stamped parts which are manufactured both in our factories as well as our suppliers. These metal stamped parts are used for both structural and aesthetic applications in our products.

Technical requirements

The material is categorized as carbon flat rolled sheet in the form of hot rolled and cold rolled product.

Hot Roll – All the hot roll product we use is "pickled and oiled." Some portion of this Hot Roll product is further upgraded to a "Drawing Quality.

Cold Roll – Approximately one-third of the cold roll product we use is "commercial quality." The balance of the cold roll product we use is drawing quality steel for deep draw" stampings

Dimension, Weight and Material

Hot Roll – Thickness Range is from .223 to .071 thick. Processing Finished Sizes run from 2" wide to 50" wide.

Cold Roll – Thickness Range from .117 to .033 thick. Processing Finished Sizes run from 2" wide to 50" wide.

Production process

The production process required to make these products (hot roll and cold roll sheet) is either an EAF (electric arc furnace prevalent in the new generation of mini-mills) or a BOF (basic oxygen Furnace prevalent in the traditional integrated mill.)
